BIG BAD K.O 3AN GUO POST
So, my new obsession, the newest instalment in the zhōng jí series, the sequel to K.O One and X-Family - K. O 3an Guo. This post is inspired by the fact that next week's episode is probably going to be mind bogglingly awesome and I need to kill some time by thinking about this show even more.

I admit that I'm not only watching it because of Chen De Xiu, but he is big part of the reason. His character has a much bigger role in this one than in the previous shows, he actually has a personality now and feelings and friends. And Xiu actually has to act, which he has become somewhat better at, I am very glad to see.

So, now follows a quick summary of how Xiu ended up in a different dimension, impersonating someone, having brothers and so forth and who besides him makes the show awesome.

WITH PICTURES!

In the beginning we find out that after Da Dong, Ya Se and Xiao Yu got their powers back after the events in X-Family, they have peer pressured Xiu into taking them on a sightseeing trip around the different dimensions.

Xiu tells them not to touch anything, because every false move could interrupt the flow of the universe and screw with the precious and hard won balance between the dimensions. And if Xiu's superiors found out they were doing this, Xiu would be in a world of trouble.

Da Dong thinks that Xiu should relax and take it easy.

Xiu points out that
HE DIDN'T WANT TO DO THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE

In a different part of the town we meet Liu Bei, Xiu's counterpart in this dimension.

Liu Bei is kind of a manipulative talkative asshole with an agenda of his own. He tricks our new heroes Guan Yu and Zhang Fei into becoming sworn brothers with him, so he could later use their loyalty and strength to.. well basically rule the world.

And yeah, Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei as in Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

But then Da Dong messes up and accidentally Liu Bei is badly wounded.

Da Dong proposes that in order to not interrupt the flow of the universe, Xiu should take Liu Bei's place while they take Liu Bei back to the Golden dimension to heal him there.
Everybody thinks this is a great idea, except Xiu.

He is outvoted however.

Xiu undoubtedly remembers that he didn't want to come in the first place.

So Xiu ends up taking Liu Bei's place while the others take off, leaving him in a strange dimension. The only other person who know about him is Zhang Fei, but Xiu is not allowed to tell anybody else or use his powers in this dimension, otherwise it would just fuck up the balance.

OTHER REASONS WHY I WATCH THIS:

*

Xiu's superior intelligence.
Turns out that questions like "How much is 8x8?" are mind boggingly hard questions and when Xiu answers all these hard questions correctly everybody is like "llkdzvglkjdlkh YOU'RE A GENIUS!!!" and Xiu is like "..omg wtf?"
Let us remember that this guy loves to read and is part of the imperial guard, so he is probably highly schooled and stuff.
Plus his knowledge of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms comes in handy a couple of times.

*

The sworn brothers themselves.

Xiu is the big brother, often referred to as such. Even the other Tiger Generals (their gang grows quickly to include other strong fighters - Zhao Yun, Ma Chao & Huang Zhong) call Xiu Big Brother.

*

Zhao Yun and Xiao Qiao

Their relationship isn't something that's pointed out to us any further than the first episode where we learn that Xiao Qiao has a crush on all around popular Zhao Yun.

But it's clear that they really care and worry about each other.

*

Ma Chao's & Huang Zhong's bffery

Ma Chao joins the gang because he gets bested by Zhao Yun in a fight and Huang Zhong joins in simply because he's Chao's best friend. Two for the price of one.

*

Xiu and Ah Xiang

Because Xiu finally gets the girl
(and he's wonderfully shy and blushing about it)

*
THE ANGST FACTOR

At first Xiu's just like "Oh god, how long do I have to keep impersonating Liu Bei, this is ridiculous, I want to go home." but then he actually becomes really close with the guys and then he meets Ah Xiang and then he's like "I'm starting to like it here.". To which his friends from his own dimension tell him: "DON'T! This isn't permanent, you're leaving as soon as the real Liu Bei is well." Which is just, you know, a major set up for angst and heartbreak and Xiu will once again be screwed over by life. Also, he's not allowed to use his powers, but he does anyway once, to help his friends ("I may not be their real big brother, but I'm still their big brother,") and because of that he gets a warning from his own dimension, telling him that his superiors are very angry with him. Oh snap. And the preview for the next episode had him using his powers again. Oh snap It's going to be awesome.

I might become intrigued.
Which is the first series and how long all of them are?
I might consider watching.

K.O One is 21, but X-Family is like 55 or something. I watched the whole series of K.O One, because it was awesome. X-Family was less awesome, or well, more confusing and silly, but Xiu actually had a supporting role there so I watched like half of it to get the general idea and bits and pieces here and there.
And now I'm watching K.O 3an Guo, even the unsubbed episodes, because it's actually rather awesome. But I can't be sure, I am horribly biased by Xiu. Blinded, almost.
